CHRISTMAS PARTY

Christmas seems along time ago now, however, as usual the Christmas Party was a success and well attended. Dogs and handlers were all well behaved, we didn’t have any handlers falling out about who had the last mince pie!!

Thank you to everyone for the food and raffle prizes and to all the helpers behind the bar!!

INTER REGIONAL RALLY
30th September 2007

Sunday 30th September 2007

As team Captain I would just like to begin this report with a big thankyou

to everyone who gave up their time to support the club in this event. For some of our club members it was the first time at the event and entering a competition ring….we hope you enjoyed your day.

The route chosen by me to the venue proved to be a scenic one with a convey driving over Saddleworth Moor on some minor roads…sorry. I am pleased to announced that all arrived safe and sound.

The host club this year was NATS and the day ran smoothly with the first classes finishing by lunchtime. We enjoyed our lunch in the sunshine and  all headed home around 4.00pm…very tired.

 IF ONLY……Stories from the day

The oldies were brought out to make up numbers  Finn enjoyed his day out and his walk around the ring and would have done well in set exercises if only he could still sit!! Libby true to form showed us how to do it - losing most of her marks in scent!

Riley and Denver had a go in classes to make up numbers for us – Thanks for having a go

Little Whizz held the lead in class B until scent – well done

Ralphi hedged his bets and brought back the cloth and the decoy in scent– mark that one judge!!  Can’t complain too much as he did his retrieve in both classes – you can’t have everything

Kes was lying handy in this class again until scent when, not like her she brought back the decoy

Louie was a star ending up joint 1st in C and having to do a run off – if only Mum could keep her feet still!!

Max put in a good performance despite having an onlooker – you have worked hard on him Caroline.

Thankyou to Margaret – you were our Novice team hope you made it to your trial this year (sheepdogs!)…. and also to Carol, Pam and Nina for coming all that way and being part of our team – perhaps we may see you at some open shows??

New Class Times

from 7th March 2007

Well, it’s the start of another year and all those ‘good intentions’ that come with the new year.

With this in mind Lune Valley DTC seems to be going from strength to strength, all the classes are well attended and we have a steady flow of new members.

The trainers and committee are concerned with regards to the numbers and varying abilities within some of the classes and for this reason we have decided to amend the class times and fit in an extra class.

From the 1st Wednesday in March class times will be as follows: -

6.45—7.20  Puppy Socialisation

7.20—8.00  Puppy Assessment

8.00—8.40  Beginners

8.40—9.20  Novice

9.20—10.00 Competition Class

If you are not sure which class to attend please check with Brenda, Carla or Lesley.

Training  Day  with   Pat  Wilson

The training day we organised with Pat Wilson was a great success. I am sure those handlers and dogs that attended took away positive ideas for improving their dogs competitive obedience.
Many thanks to Brenda and Stella for the ‘Kitchen Duty’ - it was much appreciated, the soup was excellent!
Hopefully we will be able to arrange another training day in the near future.

CONGRATULATIONS TO   BRENDA AND MAGGIE

To any of you that don’t already know, Maggie, Brenda’s border terrier ( and mother of Annie and Logie) won the Vetzyme Dog of the Year Award.

Maggie has been a PAT dog for a good number of years and visits the local hospitals  where she brings pleasure to a great number of patients who look forward to her regular visits. Brenda works tirelessly for both PAT dogs and Lune Valley Dog Club and I am sure we are all very proud she has been given this award with one of her dogs.

If anyone to interested in their dog becoming a PAT dog please ask Brenda for details as she would be only too happy to help.

Lesley and Louie - Northern Team - Crufts

Thankyou from Lesley and Louie

Lesley and Louie would like to thank everyone for the cards  and congratulations received after Louie gained his final qualifier to work ticket class.   I know many of you will not understand what this means but safe to say, especially for a poodle, it is a big achievement.
Thank you to Carla, Tricia and Brenda for all their help, encouragement and support.  We will try not to let our nerves take over in the ring,  afterthought, must buy some more ‘Rescue Remedy’! (for me not the dog!!)

Lovely Louie
Just to let everyone know that Lesley and Louie have got their final qualifier and now are TICKET.

WELL DONE
from all at Lune Valley
